MONKEYS AT CHANDIKHOL
GOD’S own
Children from yore
Enjoying jumps and somersaults ,
Drinks from the perennial gargoyle ;
Living on fruits from trees
And offerings from devotees
Not knowing how hot noons slip away
From body’s underside
Where their mates search for lice
And in tree shades, for a life time’s bliss.
In the afternoon siesta they dream
Of garlands made of hibiscus
Marigold,jasmines and tuberoses
Adorning the broad chests
Of their gods and goddesses ,
And the floor underneath cleaned
Of urine ,shit and dirt
Before offer of prayer to God
Supplicating
To end all human vices.
